Holistic AI was founded in 2020 by Dr. Emre Kazim and Dr. Adriano Koshiyama, emerging from academic research focused on algorithmic fairness and model risk governance.

Holistic AI operates an AI governance platform that provides comprehensive risk management and compliance solutions for artificial intelligence systems. The platform focuses on testing, monitoring, and securing AI models through advanced red teaming methodologies that identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in AI responses to challenging scenarios. The platform employs a Defense Success Rate (DSR) metric that quantifies the proportion of safe responses generated by AI models when exposed to potentially harmful prompts, evaluating four distinct categories of prompts designed to test AI systems against different types of attacks.

Mozilla Ventures and Premji Invest have both provided undisclosed investments in Holistic AI.
